Jamshid, or James among American friends and colleagues, grew up in Uzbekistan, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Istanbul in Turkey with a major in English language and literature. He also has an MA in International Economic Relations from the State Institute of Economics and Management, Uzbekistan.
While Jamshid has a breadth of professional experience in many fields, including marketing, public relations and international development, chess has always been his passion. He has extensive experience teaching chess to kids. In 2011, his student earned the bronze medal at the World Youth Chess Championship in Brazil. He is also the author of many articles about chess and personally interviewed many of the world’s top chess personalities. Jamshid can comfortably teach in English and Russian.
Jamshid joined the Golden Key Russian School in the fall of 2014 as our chess coach however a couple of years later he moved away to New Hampshire. With the new virtual learning environment, we are happy to welcome Jamshid back to our team! He is very excited to share his passion for chess with his young students and is looking forward to not only teaching them game strategies but also telling them stories about the history and modern personalities of this ancient game. Besides chess, Jamshid has many interests, including journalism, languages (he fluently speaks four languages and is learning others), and literature (he is working on his first novel).
