Yuliya Shearer is a native of Moscow, Russia. She received her BSE degree from the Moscow Land Use Planning University. Although after graduation Yuliya worked at the Federal Land Use Planning and Research Institute, her true passion has always been for teaching Russian.
Yuliya first started teaching Russian when she was helping international students at her college with their Russian. Later in life, after immigrating to the US, teaching Russian became Yuliya’s primary occupation. Yuliya has been teaching Russian as a foreign language for more than twenty years. In addition to teaching Russian language, Yuliya has taught Russian literature and cinema to adults and children in South Bend, Indiana, and in the Philadelphia area. In addition to being a teacher, Yuliya also works as a translator of nonfiction literature and a business interpreter for various projects in the blockchain and biotech industries.
Yuliya lives in Glen Mills, PA with her husband and two children. Her daughter Ally is pursuing a BA degree in Russian at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Her son Michael is a High School Freshman in the University Scholars Program at the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School. We are thrilled to welcome Yuliya to the Golden Key Russian School this year!
