Musical Theater Teacher

Karina grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia, and graduated from the St. Petersburg Music Training College where she focused on violin. As part of her studies, Karina also learned piano, conducting, ensemble, and led a music class at a local elementary school. Additionally, while at college, Karina taught music to kindergarten kids and led a choir group at a music school. Later, Karina completed the St. Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts where she majored in Theater. She also studied art with Vycheslav Shraga the at the Matisse Club Studio in St. Petersburg.

Karina has 20+ years of experience in working with children, including both teaching music and guitar at formal music school establishments, as well as giving private in-home music lessons in violin, piano and music theory. Since 2009, Karina has been teaching Violin at the Nelly Berman School of Music in Haverford, PA. In 2013, she joined the Golden Key team as the Theater Teacher. Currently, she also teaches music and art at the Main Line Classical Academy in Bryn Mawr.

Karina has two young daughters, Maria and Anna, who both attend the Golden Key Russian School. Her lessons are engaging and entertaining for the kids, and she has a rare talent of bringing out the voices of all students, even the ones who are shy or not confident in their Russian abilities.  Karina’s dream is to develop the Golden Key Russian School’s theater program to enable the students to perform in front of a Russian-speaking audience beyond the school setting, for the broader Russian community.
