What it is:
  • GKRS Math Mosaic Circles is a place for elementary school students to explore exciting mathematical topics and problems. It combines the strong Russian math circle traditions of asking challenging, open-ended questions with the best hands-on elements of American elementary school enrichment.

  • The program has two tracks - Competitive and Enrichment. Students in the Competitive track are expected to participate in the Math Kangaroo competition (and older students in MOEMS and Mathcounts) and will have longer and more challenging homework assignments to complete weekly.

  • Classes are 1 hour long. Homework is assigned on a weekly basis and typically takes 30-45 minutes to complete.

Key Objectives:
  • Develop creative problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills in our students

  • Instill a strong level of confidence in each student’s mathematical abilities

  • Introduce students to exciting mathematical topics that lie outside the school curriculum

  • Prepare students for math competitions such as Math Kangaroo and MathCounts

  • Foster a community for mathematically oriented students and their families and foster peer relationships
