PATRICIA HILL

Math Teacher

Patricia Hill is a long-time elementary and middle school teacher with over 40 years of teaching experience. Her BSEd is from Wheelock College in Boston.  Patricia’s full-time teaching career started in Maine. She then moved to Pennsylvania and taught 4th grade for nearly a decade at The Montgomery School in Wynnewood. After the Montgomery School moved to Chester Springs, Patricia started teaching at The Agnes Irwin School where she taught 4th grade for 30 years.

Over the years of being a homeroom elementary teacher, Patricia enjoyed forming the kids’ understanding of language arts and social studies. However, it was the subject of Math that became Patricia’s true passion. As Patricia’s love for teaching math increased over time, so did her understanding of the importance of hands-on learning, games, and puzzles to help develop a strong mathematical mind.

Since her retirement from full-time teaching in 2016, Patricia has been teaching homeschooled children and tutoring children of all ages up to and including first year algebra. One of her favorite things to teach is Hands On Equations - Making Algebra Child’s Play, a program developed to teach kids the basics of algebra using hands on manipulative and a balance scale.

Swimming, hiking, paddle boarding, sailing, and kayaking keep Patricia busy and happy. She lives in Wayne with her dog, Teddy, and two cats. Patricia joined us at GKRS  in 2018.
